Artist Statement: In these photos, taken in Switzerland, I was trying to focus on the current area. I waited for the fog to cover up the cliff just past the peak, so it would look mysterious. I chose to take these pictures because it makes the viewer think in the moment of when the photos were take, and not in the future. The feeling I was trying to convey here, is an appreciation for the current moment. The thing I struggled most with while taking these pictures was lighting. Because of the clouds, it was darker with not a ton of natural light that showed the contrast of the land. To solve this, I waited for short bursts of time when it would become lighter.
Artist Statement: These photos were taken in Swiss Mountains. I tried to focus on the background, and the clouds above the land in the background, to show how high up the photo was. I focused a lot on green and blue, because they are happy colors. Putting these elements together, I was trying to create a happy feeling with a sense of purpose. When taking the photos, it was hard to hide a road in them, but I changed the angle I was taking the photos to do this.
Artist Statement: These are pictures of trees and mountains in the foreground, and the sky in the background. I put the horizon low on the pictures because I wanted to focus on the clouds in the sky. I focused on the clouds because they were a lot closer because of the elevation, and I wanted to create a feeling that "your on top of the world." When taking these photos, it was hard to get the clouds to look different with the trees because of how slow they were moving, so I had to wait a while for them to change.
Artist Statement: These photos were taken in Switzerland. When I took these photos, I was in a small rollercoaster like train heading up a huge mountain with a small seatbelt to keep people in, and no windows. I had to lean out, and not drop my phone while we were moving, which was a challenge while taking the photos. With these photos, I was trying to covey a thrilling feeling that comes from traveling to new places, which is why I took it when the clouds directed the focus down.
Artist Statement: This location is in Grand Haven, Michigan. I took these photos when we stopped at a beach to take a break from a car ride. The sunset was a luck of the moment thing, and I chose these angles to show how far away the colors of the sunset were, and how long the beach is. I am trying to create a lasting peaceful feeling, which is why the sunset is in the distance, so it looks like it goes on. While taking these photos, I had to be quick before it became to dark for my phone.
